A dispatch dated New York, says: "The Right Reverend Robert] Strange, Bishop of Eastern Carolina, wfiose home is In Wilmington, is seriously ill in St. Luke's hospital, where he was taken immediately after his arrival in this city to attend the general convention of the Protestant Episcopal church. Although it was said at the hospital tonight that Bishop Grange's I condition is not dangerous at this time, considerable apprehension has | been felt over the recurrence of his ailment, from which he has suffered several times before. THE.VES ME REMNANTS SAVED FROM STORM One ?f the heaviest losers by the recent storm of September 3rd was Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Ellis, who up river shore a few miles from this city. They practically lost all they possessed. The damage they received necessitated their moving back to this city, however, before they left they succeeded in gathering a fe wth.ngs which were placed in the house for safe keeping. This Is a sad fact but a true one. At the regular meeting of the chamber last night the committee on membership was instructed to draft a letter to those seemingly careless seventy .five and endeavor to secure their membership for the chamber. This letter is now being prepared and will be mailed without delay. Capt. \V. H. Ellsworth was ' received into the chamber as a member. Capt. Geo. T.
